"THE FULL MOON - AND DADDY OUT OF TOWN"
It is only Wednesday but it has already been a very very long week. Daddy left for ASTRO (some conference) in Chicago on Saturday. He is to return Thursday night. We are so anxious for him to be home. Everytime he is gone things go wrong. It seriously never fails! That is it! No MORE confrences! He is going to have to figure out some other way to get his CME credits or else take us with!
Yesterday Haakon and Marit went to the toy room to play (in the basement) they ended up deviating and going to the little bar/kitch area and running gallons of water everywhere. It was a crazy amount of water. Every cupboard was wet the floor full of water. If you have read past entries, the whole water story is familier. They know full well they are not to play with water, but something draws them too it each time. I was so mad! I could not look at them for 30 minutes. I threatened to cancel Haakon's birthday party he has planned for the last 11 months. What made me more dissapointed then anything is how many times I stress not to make messes and ruin things and turn water on and get things wet, and yet they did it anyway. Oh sure they had a blast doing it. I just don't know why they thrieve and seek out such distructive behaviour. I was never like that and I just cannot understand it.
My cousin Cara dropped by with her girls and saved the day. Thier company helped lighten our mood and cheer us. That night as the kids were getting ready for bed they both prayed and asked God to help them be better tomorrow and to say the were sorry for being naughty. It was just what I needed, that little glimmer of hope that there is some sweetness and goodness in them. God knew I needed that to get through the day. It is those little moments that keep me going.
After they were tucked in I worked hard to prepare for today's busy schedule. We were bounding out the door at a quarter to ten this morning when all of assuden we discover the battery is completely dead on the suberban. NOT AGAIN. An hour and a half later with some help from my nieghbor, my Dad, and Grant over the phone it was finally working. We managed to get everything done. When we came home after a full day of here and there, I discovered that our back door off of our kitchen was wide open. I had no clue if it had been open for 5 minutes or 5 hours! It had been locked and everything, but for some reason it was OPEN. It wasn't until a couple hours later after Haakon and Marit were tucked in bed that I made an unsettling discovery. Thor and I had plopped on the floor in my room to change his diaper. Him and I both noticed something strange on the floor. He tottled over there fast and made a eewe sound. I look... and scream! "DOG POOP!" So apparently sometime today with my back door wide open and so inviting one or maybe all of the neighborhood dogs stopped in for a visit. Since they don't write to leave me a note they decided to poop on my bedroom floor instead??? Seriously!? did they use a key and let themselves in too? If I found poop in my bedroom does that mean they peed somewhere as well? Oh good grief. I just pray tomorrow will be somewhat less exciting then today. Not sure if I should just plop into bed right now and leave the messy kitchen only to suffer the consequences in the morning. I seriously think if you leave a mess at night it doubles by morning!
When talking to Grant this evening and discussing his confrences and sharing my feelings of remorse and just plain feeling sorry for myself, he told me he is planning on a May conference in Cancun. I did not know whether to bash the phone on the floor and throw a temper tantrum or what after hearing that. I managed to take a deep breath and calmly but infatically said. "You are NOT going unless you take us! (especially if it is during a full moon)"
