I have a moment to reflect on the past 4 1/2 weeks that Daddy has been gone while I wait for my water to boil so that I may take a bath. I could just take a cold shower, but tonight a bath sounds good. Sure makes me appreciate hot water. A couple things I have learned... never purchase a whirlpool hot water heater. If you happen to have your hot water heater in the attic - make sure that when they put your new roof on that they reattach everything properly so your hot water heater functions. All this trouble over a new roof that was put in in January. I have been told that it is a good thing there was no fire. But then again, here I sit, way past bedtime, waiting for water to boil. Cause you know I won't be able to shower come morning. The three Trolls will be up and causing trouble.

I won't lie, it has been a long 4 1/2 weeks without Daddy here. There have been some days where I wondered if I would even make it. I have come closer to realizing why people do crazy things. At least the craziest thing I have done so far was drive over 900 some miles to visit Cousin Kelsey and Tim, Beau, & Judson in Knoxville, TN. Kelsey was so sweet to invite us for a visit. After contemplating it, and realizing it would be a good 10 hours closer then going to MN... we packed our bags and headed out. With a navigation system on board, roadside assistance programed into my cell phone, snacks, water, pillows, toys, and driving tunes, we headed east. We hoped to make it in one long day of driving but the kids had had it so we stopped in Alabama for the night. But once we got there we had a wonderful time. The Lott family saved us from the deep dark depression we were sinking in. THANK YOU!!! Our highlights were going to Dollywood, visiting their church, seeing the aquarium, & Kels and I eating out with 5 kids. The drive back was also long but the four of us had really gotten our routine down. We made frequent stops. And believe you me there was an adventure with each one! Now traveling by myself in unfamiliar territory with three little kids can possibly be a little risky. We avoided dumpy gas stations and sketchy fast food joints and stuck to bathroom breaks at Starbucks, Target, Bass Pro Shops, Barnes & Noble book stores. Aside from the Bass Pro Shop, each of the others shared a common theme. COFFEE! Haakon and Marit like the organic milk "juice boxes" where as I got a variation of some coffee and an ice water. Thor has learned to drink from a straw like a pro. His favorite drink is the milk shakes from McDonalds or the Strawberries and Creme fraps at Starbucks. Put that in his sippy and he is one happy baby! I think he even prefers it over my milk!
The trip did us good and definitely broke up the time we have had with Daddy gone. 10 days left till he returns. Uncle Dave and Aunt Claire are planning a visit this weekend! We are excited. It has also been so helpful when we fill our days with visits or outings with friends.

Our house was almost sold but is now back on the market again. Anyone want to move to Texas? I am sure in time the Lord will provide a buyer. Meanwhile we are busy keeping things tidy and as clean as possible each day. It has been a good lesson for me too in house keeping. My house is normally not show ready. I have not figured out how to keep happy kids and a clean house. Usually one is crying.
Today we got a call for a showing. No problem I thought, just put a couple things away and we will be set. I asked Haakon and Marit to go out and put their toys in the playhouse, I did my best to make it sound all fun and exciting. Before they went out I told them "NO WATER"
Well if you tell a troll not to do something you can just about bet he or she will do it. And sure enough (to make a long story short) when I finished getting the house all tidy I went outside with shampoo, towels, and dry clothes in hand. I found 2 very dirty trolls. They were completely covered from head to toe in mud sand. Lucky for them the water in the hose is warmer then that in the house. They had their hose shower, got dried off and dressed, and were banned from the house and back yard till after the showing. No amount of threats, punishments, bribery, you name it will keep my trolls from causing a HUGE mess each time they are alone for 2 seconds with the water faucets.

Well it sounds like my four kettles of water have come to a boil! So thankful my gas stove works and we have an abundance of large kettles. (6 years ago I wondered how I would ever use all these huge kettles)
Sure glad we have them now!

    Comments:
Auntie Cal:  Dear Rebekah, Hang in there! I so wish I was close enough to help you out. We love you all so dearly and hope these last days fly by quickly. The one piece of advice I want to leave regarding your precious little ones is do not be so NICE! TOUGH LOVE, be consistant, and be strong, Train, train, train those little ones teach, teach that is your mission. Many, many life lessons are tought at a young age by a loving mother.
Mary & the girls:  Thanks for the update...we've been wondering how you were all doing. I'm sure you feel so overwhelmed - you are doing such a hard job all by yourself...the wisdom, grace & patience you need for the next 10 days (and beyond) WILL be supplied to you. You are in faithful hands. I pray that as you rub the weariness from your eyes each day, you will feel God's refreshment fall upon you. Love to you all! Hang in there...

It was encouraging to read the sweet comments that were left by so many! Thank you. They were a blessing to me the crazy haggered mommy of three little trolls (I mean sweet children)
