Haakon does not drive (although he did start the sub the other day) Reminder to self - do not leave keys in Haakon's reach.
Nor will Haakon be driving for a good 11 to 12 years. BUT this little guy is already experiencing a bit of road rage. It irritates him when we are headed either north or south on 45 which is 3 to 4 lanes in each direction and he happens to drop whatever it is he is holding to an unreachable position. He begs and pleads with me to stop and get it. I have never given in to this request, and thus keep driving and tell him I am not going to risk getting into an accident because you dropped your toy or water bottle. He lately has decided that he will solve our traffic dilemma by stating that he is going to break the other cars, trucks, semis, etc that are on the road and throw them in the ditch. That is where I plug in the “eat your veggie's and fruit otherwise you will never be strong enough to break cars and truck in two” line. Then I have to explain that we can not wish to hurt and break other people's property. That just is not right and God would not be pleased.
Yesterday morning on our way to work, we had reached the island and a little Scion had cut right in front of us causing me to slam on the breaks. Here, I try to drive safe and defensively with a vehicle full of little ones only to have a little reckless driver try to zoom in front. A few blocks later he slammed on his breaks and took his time turning into the donut shop to apparently stuff his face with those delightful round pastries. I would be lying if I said I did not feel like Haakon and breaking his car in two and throwing it in the ditch. I did not tell Haakon though.
Marit is accessorizing big time these days. She has to take with her a multitude of items. Purse, 2 blankets, NUK, water bottle, baby doll, baby bear, perhaps a bracelet or two and snacks are always good as well. Two pair of shoes is required at all times. This morning I said, “alright everyone, in the car! We are leaving in 2 minutes.” I could hear her whining at the top of the stairs. She was struggling and about to trip over the two “bly” (blankets) she was carrying along with Pablo. No matter how much I tell her she could leave some of it at home she just shakes her head and says, “no, mommy.”
We get into the car and pile on all of her items. One can barely see her face poking out from beneath her pile of items. As we enter unto the highway I hear Marit in the back calling, “NUK, NUK!” Haakon piped in before I had a chance to respond. “Marit, you forgot your NUK and we are not going to get it so just deal with it!” I could hear a whimper and a soft spoken NUK. I told her not to worry because it was probably still up in the bathroom where she set it down when she brushed her teeth and we will get it when we get home. At least we got Pablo, two blankets, her purse, 2 pair of shoes, and an extra pony with us.
3 more bedtimes till Daddy is home. Ja, the projects can wait, the dishes can sit, and the laundry can pile up. As long as Daddy comes home and we are alive and well.

less then a week to go till Daddy is home. I don't think we can say it enough that we miss him. I seem to be running low on energy these days. Every now and then I induldge in caffine to keep me going for a little bit. Hopefully that does not bother this sweet baby any. I know it perks him up too. He just kicks and punches away. I think he is in training already.
Tomorrow is Grandpa Seeger's birthday (the 23rd) We sure hope his day is fabulous!
Tomorrow I have to venture to the court house and report for jury duty. Apparently I should be exempt since I have 2 little ones, pregnant, and single parenting it this month too. I sure hope so, I just don't have the energy. Otherwise I may think it would be a fun experience.
Haakon and Marit enjoyed the beach on Saturday for their friend Ryan's 4th Birthday Party. Today after church Jenny Dale came to visit which was a special treat.
We are going to try to finish some of our projects before Daddy gets home. IF we can muster up the energy. And that would be a miracle.Comments:justin: help is on the way

Our sweet little cousin Aquiliana has been very sick now for over a week. She has been to the doctor this week probably more times then Haakon and Marit have been combined in their 3 1/2 and 1 1/2 years respectively. Please keep her in your prayers that she will be well very soon. This has not been easy on her sweet mommy and daddy. As all parents know, it is soooo painful to see your child sick or hurt.
10 more days till Daddy is home. Haakon's corn has grown very tall. Perhaps tomorrow we will take a picture.
hopefully daddy will be home before it grows ears!Comments:Add a comment:

Today is Haakon's half birthday. He is now 3 and a half. It also would have been Grandpa Ranum's 85th birthday today.
Haakon celebrated by putting on his blue birthday hat and sharing ice cream cones with Andrew and Justin and Marit. He had asked for a chocolate cake with Optimus Prime on it. But I told him we will have to save the Transformer Birthday party till he actually turns 4. Every now and then he asks if I have made his invitations yet. Uff da he is anxious!
We are half way through our month. Never have I wished June to go by so fast. I appreciate all the prayers and thoughts. They are working!!!!!!!!! The kids have been rather good. We have not had any disasters of magnitude and I have a bribe hanging over Haakon's head that is working like a charm!
I don't relish the idea that my children before they were 2 could point out and distinguish a McDonald's and that they knew what Happy Meals were. And they can also order their own if asked. But every now and then we will treat them to a happy meal. Last Friday was our Happy Meal day and if you have ever looked at the bottom of the Happy Meal boxes it will often say what is the up and coming toy. Well to Haakon's delight the next set of toys are Transformers! He is soooo excited. He wants to get Barricade the decepticon. (why the bad guy, I am not sure). It will be a while before the new toys rotate through but every time he is acting out of line I tell him he won't get his transformer happy meal unless he is good. Then he tells me he will be good and asks if we can go now to get it. I have to tell him that they are still making all the toys and are not ready to put them in the happy meals yet. Not sure what we will do after he gets his happy meal but at least it will last till Daddy comes home. Marit on the other hand, I have no ploy with her. She is getting very good at helping me around the house and kissing the baby and taking care of her "babies". She does however like to run from home if given the chance. She has no concept of the street being not a safe place though. Sidewalks are boring and streets are much more fun to run in. My sprinting is not quite as fast anymore when I am this preggo. And Marit knows it and takes advantage of it too.
Today we went to the YMCA pool and coordinated our outing with our good neighbors Justin and Andrew and their sweet mom Lorri. It helps to have a few extra hands at the pool. We were there for about 2 hours. We came home so tired and worn out. Marit had a 4 hour nap. Haakon had a good nap too. Oh how I thought of the gazillion things that I could do while these too were both napping at the same time. I probably can count on one hand how many times an event like this has repeated itself. With the wonderful opportunity in front of me I ended up just going to sleep myself. I still need to figure out how to wear them out without wearing myself out. That is the mystery yet to be solved. Oh well, the nap was wonderful and eventually I will get the rest of the ugly wall paper off the bathroom walls.Comments:Add a comment:

Cousin Cara sent us a list of all sorts of good ideas to fill our days and keep us focused while daddy is away. Thank you!
Today we ventured out after breakfast to pick up a couple essentials and mail off some packages. The trip went well. Our last stop was to the garden center for flowers and some seeds.
We got a couple zinnias and one other purple plant that we can't remember the name of. For seeds we got sweet corn and petunias. Haakon was so excited about planting corn. Crazy frustrated that it did not grow fast enough so that we could eat it for supper though. He has a thing or two to learn about how things grow. I hope something green sprouts fairly soon from the big green pot we planted 25 corn seeds in. I have no clue how many tiny little petunia seeds Haakon insisted on planting in a little tin bucket. I am sure when they come up it will look like green grass.
It was a fun project. We even got rain today. We sure needed it. It cooled things down a little too. Playing outside is difficult when it is so extremely hot. Before 8am and after 7pm are the best times to be outside. (unless of course water is involved)
This little baby sure takes advantage of his own quiet time after the kids are tucked in tight. He thumps away. I wonder if I knew morris code if I would have an idea of exactly what he is trying to tell me. He has grown so much now that painting my toe nails is nearly impossible. I have not had a real pedicure since before we were married and since Daddy is gone, I might just have to see how well Haakon does with the polish. (we better do it outside with lots of paper, maybe cardboard)
Comments:Mary: If anyone deserves a nice, long pedicure Rebekah, it's YOU! (and not from a 3 yr. old!) :) Hope you find a little time away for yourself sometime soon and can make your way into a nice massaging chair, with a long foot rub and some pretty toe nail polish. If I was there, I'd come do it for you! Take care of yourself and hang in there. You seem like you're doing great.Add a comment:

Well, June is here and Daddy is gone. He left last Monday for Memphis to do a rotation at St. Jude's hospital. To say we are lonesome and sad would be saying the least. But there is always a bright side right? Well, I had to think about it and then I realized it could be worse. I could be at St. Jude's too with a sick child. Thankfully, Daddy is just there trying to make them better and we are home alone missing him.
We have our good moments and our not so good moments. So far nothing too disasterous to report. 3 weeks left till we have Daddy home.
In the meanwhile we are trying to get a few things accomplished around here. (remodling the bathroom/destroying it)
My tummy has grown and made moving around a bit more challenging. Often people ask me, "are you sure there are not two in there?" Haakon and Marit enjoy kissing, talking, and banging on my tummy to greet their little brother who is "still cooking" as Haakon puts it.Comments:cuzzy cara: Oh, I'll email you with some tips of what's worked for me in the past! I will be praying for you! Love you! CaraGrandma Barb: Habg in there Rebekah! You are the greatest MOM and I know the days will go fast. Doing everything alone is just so much effort and in the 90 plus heat. Try not to do anything extra and be good to yourself. HugsAdd a comment:
