Praise the Lord, the kids are feeling better!

Haakon did not start the morning off too right though. Being the good Daddy that he is, Grant got Haakon ready to go to Miss Monica's this morning. He changed is diaper, brushed his teeth and even redressed him in the latest set of clothes he wore yesterday, just to make Haakon happy. Next thing we know as we are gathering up cell phones, keys etc.... Haakon is sitting at the table eating a banana when he announces to us in a distressed tone that his camo shorts are wet. After quick discussions on how this could be possible, no cups of fluids near him... CHECK, diaper was changed... CHECK, did last nights diaper leak.... don't think so? Haakon climbs down from the chair and I turn him around to find him completely soaked!!!!! Upon discovery we find him not wearing a Spiderman Pull-up but a Spiderman Swimmer. Daddy could not tell the difference. Poor Haakon. I won't blame Daddy though. Yesterday he was begging me to let him wear a swimmer so he knew the difference and probably gave it to Daddy to put on him. Now they both know that swimmers are for the water and not for everyday wear (no absorption) Perhaps this is a good lesson for Haakon about going potty. I won't hold my breath though.
As we drove to work this morning and I looked back at my happy Haakon nibbling on his banana in the back seat in a new set of clothing, it dawned on me how thankful and appreciative I was that he had his accident on a non cushioned chair in the house and not in the car seat on the way to work. :)

Marit has toothers!!! Yesterday Marit cut her 2 bottom teeth. How cute those little white points look poking up from her gum. I know she is thrilled to be getting teeth so she can eat so many nummy foods.

That is the good news, the bad news is both of our kiddos are sick. Marit started developing symptoms on Sunday. Croupie sounding and running a temp. Monday came and Haakon announced to me that he was not feeling good. "Mommy, I don't feel good." "I have a fever." he said. I asked if he was hot while I touched his forehead and tummy. He said he was hot and then cold and then hot again. Yeppers. Couldn't have described a fever better myself. Uff da, 2 sick babies. We have been cuddling and watching movies (by movies I mean CARS) a lot the last couple days. I stayed home from work today because Marit still has this bad cough and running a consistent temp. Half way through the day they both seemed to be on the mend. That all changed my early evening with Haakon once again announcing he did not feel very good. Lots of TLC, Tylenol, hugs, & kisses, and pushing fluids. My poor darlings it hurts me to have them feel so bad and not be able to take it away instantly.
Mean while the house is falling down around me. Some how the toys are jumping out of their boxes when I turn my back and books go flying off the shelf, dishes are dirtying themselves and clothes seem to fall off their hangers. They seem to all be seeking my attention. Those things can wait cause their are sweet little children to attend to. Thankfully both are sleeping at the moment and most items are now back in their place, just in time for a new day to begin and start the whole crazy mess all over.

We have been just itching to share all of the exciting news in our family. Not sure if I have all the permissions to proclaim it just yet. But to spill just a little hints, next year Haakon and Marit will be gaining a couple new relatives. We can hardly wait.

Marit not only has new teeth, she is also pulling herself up on things and standing. She gets sturdier each day. I wonder if she could possibly start walking before Haakon. Haakon was walking just before 10 months.

It is the neatest thing ever to be able to totally carry on a conversation with my son and communicate verbally with him. I just love hearing his thoughts and ideas and what he comes up with. It is amazing how much he comprehends and understands. It is cute to see him talk with Marit too. He uses words to talk with her but also sounds. Sounds he does not use with Mommy or Daddy, but just with her. She responds back to him. We are not sure yet if this is a true intellectual form of "Baby Language" or just a lot of noise. Marit gets a kick out of it anyway.

I just pray that these little ones sleep well tonight and wake up happy and healthy.

Marit is officially crawling and crawling very well. She now and then gets down and does the army crawl, but for the post part now she is on her hands and knees and getting into everything that touches the floor.
As of a couple days ago she started to really pull up on things. She wants to get up higher. When we hold her little hands and walk her a cross the floor she just beams with excitement. She is saying, "Look at me, see what I can do" "Haakon, I am walking like you!". It is precious to see that look of accomplishment and joy on her face when she hears Haakon say "Good job Marit!"
Yesterday morning Haakon woke up talking about eating cake at Ryan's birthday party. He wanted to know if it was time to go and eat cake. He was a bit disappointed when I told him the party was not until tonight after supper. For the rest of the day he did not ask about whether or not it was time, but he did say how excited he was to go jump and eat cake at the party. When it was finally time to go to the party which was being held at the coolest Jumping place for kids, we drove by Ryan's house (the birthday boy) as we were leaving our neighborhood. Both cars were still in the driveway. Hmm, that is odd I thought, can I possibly be running early? With a quick glance to my clock I realize I am running about 3 minutes early. Something must not be right is what we concluded in the car. Upon arriving to the Party, Barb (Ryan's Grandma) told us that Ryan was sick. He was running a temp and all. He apparently just started feeling bad just an hour before leaving for the party. How sad, the Birthday Boy was sick. Ryan made an appearance on the shoulder of his Daddy and we all sang Happy Birthday to him. His friends were left to jump and eat cake without him. There was no blowing out the candles and watching the birthday boy open all his presents. No hugs for the birthday boy either. How sad to be sick for your own party, but on the other hand, how nice to have so many gifts to open at home on the couch watching your favorite movie, cuddling with Dad while Mom and Mamau, hold down the party!

Grant is off to Phili for a few days for some thing ACR, RCLS, RA, bla bla bla blaaa bla.... whatchamacallit conference with Dr. Kessel and Dr. Coleman. We are sure going to miss Daddy for 3 whole nights. Uff da. Haakon will hardly go to sleep if Daddy does not tuck him in. (I am spoiled) We told him we cannot wait to see what he brings us home as a souvenir. It is sure to have some drug name on it.

Haakon says the cutest things! He has been such a good boy lately. Haakon has had more good boy moments then bad! This has certainly been a great week for us. Haakon has been so thoughtful and considerate. He is always asking me. "You want some water too Mommy?" I love the way he raises the pitch on the end of his question. It is precious. He is even starting to really tell stories. His imagination is really kicking in and is such a joy to watch it unfold. Marit and Haakon are playing more together with toys. They have there moments already were it is really hard to share. Haakon often likes to switch toys with Marit when he sees her take an interest in something he normally cares two hoots about.

Marit is so on verge of really crawling. She scoots all over the place! She loves being able to get what she wants by moving across the floor. She just started clapping too. Haakon is still the best at making her giggle. Oh does she love her brother and thinks he is the coolest kid ever. When Marit wakes from a nap, Haakon's keen ears are the first to hear her peeps. He is always telling me, "Marit's crying, go get her".

Both of them have been eating great this week.
Marit will eat squash, peaches, pears, bananas, and only rice cereal if it is mixed with any of the above. If I let her hold the spoon she can pretty much feed herself.
Haakon has been great with his veggies. His favorite green veggies are edemame and broccoli. He LOVES corn on the cob in which we get requests for often.
All of this makes a Mommy so excited.

    Our Friday plans included:
    1. Washing clothes
    2. Playdate at the park
    3. Shopping for a gift for Easton's birthday party
    4. Marit's doctors appointment
    5. A NAP

We started some laundry and headed to the park with our park toys, and lunches packed. That morning I happened to have a very rare "smart mommy" moment and I thought to include a fresh clean change of clothes for all 3 of us.
The park was fun and the kids were having a great time. Especially with the water squirters.... until Haakon stepped in a huge disguised mound of FIRE ANTS!!!! Jackie and Amy Jo were close and got him right away. In seconds though Haakon was left with 3 dozen burning ant bites on one foot and about a dozen or so on the other. Oh those ants are mean! Poor little guy. We stripped him down and washed him off to make sure there were not any other ants on him. (Second change of clothes comes in handy)
By the time we left the park there wasn't much time to do anything else so we headed straight for the doctor's office. We arrived early with a good 15 minutes to spare. (That was a first) I took my time getting the already sleeping kids out of the car and loading them up to go inside. With just an umbrella stroller packed and a sore footed sleepy boy in tow, I let him ride the stroller and decided to put Marit in the Bjorn. As I was getting her situated in the Bjorn she puked. It was everywhere, all over her, me, the Bjorn, and a big puddle on the ground too. Thankfully we were early and I still had that second change of clothes packed. Marit and I made a quick change in the car and had a wipe bath and we were ready to go. 2 hours later we left the doctors office. Marit is doing great. The Dr thought perhaps the throwing up was just a little bit of too much heat. (We miss MN) Can't say as I think the nurse did that accurate of a job measuring Marit. I know she weighs over 18 pounds. Needless to say, we were all very tired of the doctor's office and the long wait. Haakon was an angel. He exceeded my expectations and was defiantly well deserving of the sticker he got. Dr. Ingraham even took a look at his ant bites and put some ointment on them. Once back in the car, both of the kids fell back to sleep so we skipped our shopping and went straight home. If only they would have let me tuck them into bed once we arrived home... I was so hoping for that nap too.
