Marit is 3 months old today! These past 3 months fleeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwww by! Her little changes and development are so exciting to see.
She loves to stay up late and sleep in. Having her diaper changed and taking baths are among her favorite things to do. She loves nursing and gets so mad if she is bothered while doing so or if I don't have as much milk as she likes. (it is hard to keep up)
She loves to use her legs to kick blankets of or her socks and anything that is near her. Loves mobiles! Fans, anything that spins or dangles in front of her face. Marit loves conversation. She also loves to watch TV! Cartoons are her favorite. Haakon did not like TV at all at her age but she gets very upset if Haakon gets in her way while she is watching Einstiens or Backyardagins, etc. Marit is such a joy and I can't wait to see her grow, just as long as she does not grow up too soon!
Last night Haakon woke up in a fit. He has not had one of these for a while, but he is still asleep and mad and sad as can bee with tears and all. Grant always helps Haakon at night but he said it is impossible sometimes to get him out of this funk. Bad dreams as a child bothered me and I can still remember them today so I hated to see him sad. I tried to make him get out of it but to no avail. I ended up rock a byeing him and then tucking him in and reciting Psalm 23. That always helped me when I was afraid as a child to recite scripture outload. He settled down and went back to sleep and woke up happy this morning. I could not tell if he remembered what happened last night. He said he had an owie and needed medicine. Perhaps he was dreaming he got hurt. As parents we just wish we can help them through everything and anything and keep all tears away. But somethings we have to get through things ourselves, it is all part of growing. And that is exactly what he is doing, growing!Comments:Add a comment:

The most precious site and sound I have ever seen or heard occurred last night. Marit was taking a bath in her little bath tub in the tub and Haakon was crouched down beside her smiling and talking. She looked at him and smiled and they both at the same time burst out giggling. It was precious! I shall treasure and remember that moment always!

Today Haakon and I decided to make a batch of Chewy Cherry White Chocolate Oatmeal cookies. After Haakon had helped me carry ingredients from the pantry and fridge to our work space on the counter, we moved a kitchen chair for him to stand on. Haakon stood on the chair so he could watch the mixer transform all our ingredients into delicious cookie dough. We had the butter, brown sugar, & honey creaming when I remembered that I forgot to shut the lid on the washer. I turned the mixer off, told Haakon I would be back in a sec, and ran to shut the lid. Returning very quickly to the kitchen to resume our cookie making I glanced at Haakon standing all so important on the chair staring intently at the mixer, and more specifically what was in the mixer bowl. That very second I cringed to think of what a terrible mistake I most likely made by leaving him in charge. Peering into the bowl I see to my horror salt, and lots of it! If only it were sugar, it wouldn't be as bad, but there was no doubt it was salt! We tried our best to remove the salt, but there was no saving it now! In the midst of my disappointment for wasting good ingredients Haakon dipped his finger into the batter for a taste. Paused, and exclaimed, "It's nummy Mommy!". I just giggled! Needless to say, I mixed up a new batch of cookies while he was taking his nap!

Haakon asked to go "pee pee on the potty" 6 times today... and WENT!!!!!
We are so excited and proud of him and are hoping that this is a great start to some serious potty training. It would be fabulous to only have to buy diapers for one of the kidzies!
We had a lovely visit from Jackie, her sweet Mother, Diego, and baby Luke. We were so busy chatting and keeping the kids happy that we did not even get the camera out. Next time!!! Luke is just a dolly! He has the most beautiful eye lashes! I am jealous!Comments:Add a comment:

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.
We survived the visit to the Doctor's office.
Prior to going I wanted to make sure Haakon had a nap. So, we went to the park and played. Then we ate lunch early and Haakon had tuckered himself out so much that he fell asleep in the highchair eating his chili. He had almost a 2 hour nap before I woke him and tossed him into the shower to wash the chili out of his hair and off of his face. I bet you can only imagine how unhappy he was. But it did the trick. I had a rested, clean, perhaps a bit crabby boy to bring to the doctor's office.
Haakon was very cooperative with the nurse and doctor. He weighed in at 29.2 pounds and measured 35 1/4 inches tall.
Marit did very well too. She did not fuss once. She weighed in at 12.6 pounds and measured 23 1/2 inches tall. (almost a 2 footer)
Apparently she is in the 90th percentile for height and weight.
She is doing her best to grow fast so she can play with her brother.
The shots were not fun. Haakon had 2 and she had 4. Haakon cringed at the first one but the sencond one made a few tears. But he cheared up quite quick with some stickers and a hug.
Marit was so mad! She turned so red. I felt bad, but it got even worse in the evening. She was so sad. After lots of rocking, nursing, cuddling, and a bit of tylonel... she settled down and slept all night and woke a very happy little girl.Comments:Add a comment:

Yesterday morning I was getting Haakon seated in his high chair for breakfast... he notice a hair clip on the counter and asked to have it with a please. I was so excited!!!! he is really getting this please thing down. I think I might be tempted to hand him anything he desired as long as he says please. Once I got back to focasing on what exactly he was pleasing to want... I handed him over the hair clip and asked why he wanted it. He said he wanted me to put it in his hair. I told him that girls wear hair clips etc. but boys don't. He did not care he pleased again for it to be in his hair. So I carefully clipped it in his hair oh so cute. He was quite pleased with himself. Then I had to ask him, "Are you a girl or a boy?" He proudly exclaimed, "Girl". Which I responded with.."Grant!!!! we have some work to do!!!" We all had a good giggle and I think he knows he is a boy now.
Haakon is becoming quite intrigued with body parts. He can name almost anything you ask him. He often likes to help us with Marit and has come to the realization already that Marit is not just like him. He realized she did not have a penis when he was watching me change her diaper. I explained to him that girls don't have a penis but they have a urethra to pee with. So now every now and then he has to confirm who has what. Uff da! What have I done?!
Please pray for us. We go to the doctor this afternoon for Marit's 2 month checkup and Haakon's 2 year check up. It never fails that the wait is so long. The pedi office in St. Paul was a parent's dream! A place where the kids could play and run around without worry. This waiting room is not at all like that. They have a fish tank and bright colored chairs and old decor all around but that is about it for entertainment. BUT, our pediatrician is wonderful. hmmm.. is it better to have a fabulous doctor or a fabulous waiting room...... that is a tough one.
I will let you know how it all unfolds.Comments:Add a comment:

Daddy has found a new "naughty spot" or as we call it... "The Penalty Box" for Haakon.
His Penalty Box used to be the crib till he broke it. The new Penalty Box is the seat on the exercise bike.
Grant has started a new rotation up at St. Joes. It is the Houston location. He will be there till April much to my dismay. That means longer days for him and us without him and no commuting together to Galveston. Boo hoo. But less then 30 months till he is done!!!! Yeah! 2 1/2 years left. Half way through residency.
Tomorrow it is back to work at UTMB. It was fun to have one extra day at home to do laundry and clean. Can't say my house is spotless but the clothes are clean and most of them are put away. I even got supper made with the help of a neighbor boy. He wanted to help. And I would be crazy to turn down help right?!!
Marit almost ate her first solid food today. Haakon attempted to feed her gold fish crackers. She had one in her mouth. And to think he did all this while I was holding her and trying to get his video going. Marit did not mind. I actually think she liked it. Haakon once again got the "she has no teeth" speach. If she is like her brother, she won't be getting any for awhile.
Unfortunetly I did not finish painting the kitchen. Perhaps by the weekend we can have it finished and that will be nice!Comments:Add a comment:
