"What did Haakon spill now?" was my question when I walked into the kitchen Monday afternoon and saw coffee/coke colored spots on the floor. Well after a glance around the kitchen I saw no other evidence of what could have spilt on the floor, till I happened to glance up at the ceiling and to my horror. There was a coffee like substance about to drip down. "What is leaking"!?!?!?!!
Turns out our hot water heater broke and caused a leak. The craziest thing about our house is they put the hot water heater and furnace and other stuff us Minnesotan's usually house in our basement, they put up in the attic! IDIOTS!!!!!!!!!!!
So, anyway if there is a problem with the hot water heater there is also a huge water problem in your house. Thankfully it could have been worse. As of this morning we have a new hot water heater and a big whole in our ceiling in the kitchen. We spent a few days with commercial grade dehumidifiers and fans in the kitchen and in Haakon's room.
Now that it is dry we are waiting then for next week when they patch our ceiling and paint it.
We have definetly had more excitement then we needed this week.
Haakon enjoyed the fans and checking on the water spot and even trying to climb up into the attic if we had our backs turned for a second. He made friends with all the fix it men that came by and admired their "Big Trucks".

Monday we had a Dr. appointment for the baby! It went well. I am even starting to dialate which is so thrilling. Perhaps she won't be as over cooked as her brother. Heart rate and everything was great. Now we go back again in 2 weeks. The count down is on!

The week before Haakon spent his days we both worked with Jackie and Diego. Monica was taking the week off to help her daughter recover from surgery. I know Haakon had such a fabulous time with Jackie and Diego. He adjusted well to the change for the week. We are so thankful to have sweet friends to help us out!!

Haakon is 21 months old. He will be 2 before we know it.
Last weekend we had the opportunity of attending our first NFL football game. Houston Texans vs Philidelphia Eagles. The Eagles were victorious but no matter what the outcome, it was quite fun. Haakon enjoyed it very much and was quite engrossed in watching the game. He notices footballs everywhere we go. They are by far his favorite ball.

Monday we were in abit of a car accident. Praise the Lord we were all just fine. Haakon and I were on our way to visit Diego and Jackie but the car lost its bumper and we rescheduled our play date for another time.

Haakon loves to be Daddy's little helper in the yard. He was helping with the planting, the watering, weeding, etc... he can't get enough of being there right in the action helping out and taking on as much as we give him and more. It is a blessing to see his willingness to help. And when those bolts and screws go missing that he was charged with to hold... he knows exactly what corner or crevice he put them in. What a good memory!

    Happy Friday!
Normally Haakon and I have Fridays off, but this week we are working. We took Wednesday off instead to go to the doctor and listen to the baby's heart beat and all.

She is doing great they say. She sounds good and my BP, etc is good as well. Yeah. But, I did however gain a bit of weight this month. 7 pounds. Uff da! I still have 2 months left. Our goal is to at least keep the total weight gain under 60 this time. Not as much edema with this pregnancy as I had with Haakon. He made me swell up like a balloon.

Perhaps it is this nesting phase I am going through. I can't stop baking and cleaning and working on projects. It has become a vicious cycle. I clean and then I bake or cook and then that makes a mess especially when I have my little helper helping me and then we have to clean. Then we start a sewing project and my little helper helps me spread all my thread and material all over the kitchen and living room. So once again we have to clean and then we feel like a snack so we bake a pan of brownies and then of course we need to clean again. (Get the picture?)

By the way, last night we made some very yummy brownies!!!
    Here is the recipe.
Mix 2 eggs, 3/4 cup sugar, 1 tsp vanilla, and 1/2 cup of melted butter in the mixer.
Sift together 2/3 cup flour, 3/4 cup dark chocolate coco, 1/4 tsp salt, and 1/4 tsp baking powder. Add the dry ingredients to the mixer. Throw in at least a cup of chocolate chips or chocolate pieces of some sort and nuts if you like and mix in. Put it in an 8x8 greased baking dish and bake at 350 for 25 minutes. If you want to put it in a 9x13 just double the recipe. (Which we did last night)

Well this morning I cut up the brownies and put most of them in a container for Grant to bring to work to share. Haakon was digging in the cupboard for a Tupperware container. He appeared with his container and lid and wanted me to but brownies in it too. It was too cute. He wanted to bring some to daycare to share. Just like Daddy. So I put a few brownies in his container. He did not let go of it the whole ride to daycare and he was so proud and excited to give it to Miss Monica when we arrived. It was a precious sight!

This morning Haakon was up before the sun. 5 bells rang and so did Haakon. We tucked him in with us for a while and then we all got up and showered but Haakon was a bit crabby. We knew and I think he realized it was not quite enough sleep. But he was a little better after he ate a whole cinnamon roll and drank some milk. He took a nap in the car on the way to work. Normally he is checking out all the traffic and announcing every "BIG TRUCK" or Tractor we see.

We are excited about a relaxing weekend ahead. The USS Texas submarine is being commissioned here in Galveston on Saturday morning. Even First Lady Laura Bush will be here for the event. Perhaps we will go.

Auntie Lisa and Cousin Kenzie have birthdays this weekend. We sure hope they are fabulous!!!

Haakon sure enjoyed having Daddy home an extra day this week.
Daddy played goalie in a hockey tournament this weekend and we were able to take in a couple of the games. Surprisingly Haakon was very interested in watching the game of Hockey. He kept saying he wanted to see hockey!
It was hard for him at first to distinguish which one was his daddy but he was delighted when he finally discovered who he was!

Haakon experienced Chuckie Cheese's for the first time yesterday when we met the Bonillas family there to celebrate Diego's 2nd birthday. He thought it was the greatest place ever!!!
Unfortunetly he learned fast that the best way to get the ride or game you want is to push the other kids aside, no matter how big or small they maybe. Thankfully most activities were fun for him without tokens. I wonder how long that will last?
