Haakon WALKED!!!!
Just a little bit ago Haakon took his first steps. I was so amazed and you can believe quite proud of my little boy as he tottered over without a bit of coaxing.
We had just gone to get the mail and had plopped down on the living room floor next to the exercise bike that Haakon uses more then the 2 of us combined. I was reading to him The Apples of Gold newsletter as he was playing with the bike. I turned to glance at him, sensing that he was in a position out of the ordinary... and that is when I saw him move his right foot and then his left and then his right again. I had to do a double take to make sure he was not holding unto anything. I smuthered him in kisses and praise for his accomplishment. He seemed quite proud as well. Uff da, this is just the beginning. All the adventures I have to look forward to with this new developing skill he has. Hopefully he will show his Daddy this evening what he can do. YEAH for Haakon!Comments:Add a comment:

We are home safe and sound. We came back Monday. It took us about 3 1/2 hours to get back which is great. We were so blessed to arrive home with power and water and the only damage was a couple shingles off the roof and branches all over the yard and a bit of a leaning fence. There were a few neighbors that had some considerable roof damage, so we were very blessed. God answered our prayers.
It was fun to see Haakon zoom all over the house checking things out and proclaiming delightful squeals when he found things the way he left them. One of his most prized possessions is the exercise bike. He loves to sand at it and turn the wheel and knobs.
Thank you once again for all your thoughts and prayers!!!Comments:Add a comment:

Praise the Lord we made it to Austin. We left yesterday morning around 5:45 am from our home in League City. We arrived in Austin at Claire & David's home a little after 10:00am. The traffic was great. It was sad though to see several cars stranded on the side of the road and many people at gas stations lined up hoping and praying gas would be coming their way. We decided not to take the major two roads that headed west (10 & 290) and instead took a smaller road 90 which ran parallel to HWY 10 and then took 71 northwest to Austin. Mom and Dad headed back to Climax via 35 from Austin. They did not stay long and they ran into some congestion but not too bad and still made it home in less then 24 hours.
Oh how are hearts and prayers were going out to Jenny as she kept us updated on her trip to College Station. How miserable for her and her friend as they drove for over 30 hours in 100+ heat to get out of Hurricane Rita's path. We are glad she is safe and sound. Yes, Missy, you are right. We need to all move back to Minnesota. No hurricanes there. I can't wait till we move back. Then our precious families do not need to worry so much.
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers! God has anwered them. As you all have seen on the news Rita did not come on land as a 4 or 5 like the predicted and it moved more to the east and spared the Galveston/Houston area to some extent. Mom put a call in to our home phone in League City and the answering machine answered at 6:30am which means we still had power!
Claire has been so gracious to us here in Austin. We are enjoying her beautiful home and swimming pool too. It is a lovely day here and the sun is shining. Thanks again for your prayers! We love you! The SeegersComments:Add a comment:

Oh how we wish we were in Austin or anywhere but League City. We have decided not to join the millions of people who are out on the road heading out of town. So many people are running out of gas in this 100 degree weather and sitting on the interstate. We feel we are way better off at home for the time being. If the traffic starts to pick up we will head out to Claire & David Seeger's home in Austin. Until then we might as well stay here and wait instead of wait on the highway. Houston is such a messed up city. There is not many ways out of town. I advice no one to move here! I can't wait to move back to Texas. But everyone is welcome to come visit us. (better not to come during hurricane season).
My parents are so sweet to come and see us during the hottest week of the summer and spend their week helping us get ready for a hurricane. We will be lucky if they ever come visit us again!
Thank you everyone for all your prayers! We so appreciate it. We know the Lord is in control. We just pray for wisdom to make the right decisions and leave at the best time.
We will try to keep you updated through the website.Comments:Add a comment:

Hurricane Rita is on her way to visit. We are moving out for a while. Haakon is not sure what to think of all the boarded up windows. But he sure wants to help with the drill.
We sure hope and pray that we will have a house to come back to after Rita passes by. Keep us in your prayers. We don't want to be hurricane victims.Comments:Add a comment:

Nine Months Old Today!!!
This is HUGE news! Haakon is finally getting his first tooth! On the bottom right front tooth has just poked it's razor edges through the gum.
We are so excited for Haakon. Uff da it took 9 months for him to break the gums with a new tooth. All of his friends have teeth so he finally gets to join the "Toother Club".
Haakon has also started to sleep through the night again which is so amazing. Mom and Dad sure appreciate a full nights sleep.
Haakon sure can move. He zooms from one end of the room to the next in a flash. He likes gadgets and gismos better then his toys. And why is it that he is attracted to the most dangerous gismos. We can't take our eyes off of him for a minute.
He is such a good loving boy. He may get a little whiney in the evenings but oh is he a little cuddle bear and loves to give kisses.Comments:Add a comment:

Yesterday Haakon crawled up our flight of stairs! Not only does he crawl now, but he can climb too. Can't take our eyes off him for a second. He is busy and fast. He gets so excited and proud of his accomplishments.

We still have not had a chance to finish sharing all the fun adventures we had in Minnesota.
So here goes!!!
When we first arrived on the plane to Minneapolis, Auntie Bridget was their to pick us up. It sure was fun to see a familiar face. Haakon seemed to recognize her right away and went to Bridget, which I think delighted her to no end!
We got to stay with Bridget and Ryan for a couple days in their beautiful home. One evening we went to Mike and Mary's house for steaks on the grill and to celebrate Cousin Ruth's 17th birthday. Haakon loved meeting Brie (their German short hair) Brie was so sweet to Haakon. Mike, Mary, Ruth, & Emma had the cutes pair of Bibbers and western motif shirt for Haakon. Perfect for Texas!
We also got to pay Great Grandpa and Grandma Ranum a visit. We had fun with them and they got to see how wiggly and big Haakon had grown in the last two months.
It was also fun to stop by and see Beth at work while we were in Roseville. Haakon got lots of hugs from Beth.
Haakon did a great job on the drive up to Climax. He took two long naps. I know we had people praying and for those of you that prayed, THANK YOU! God answered your prayers.
It sure was fun to see Auntie Sarah's new apartment. She has the coolest place ever all decorated in pink and green. Then that evening we went to Auntie Cal & Uncle Wes's house for a birthday party for Kelsey and Me too. It was so much fun to see the cousins! Kim, Cara, Kelsey, Kenzie, Meghan, Olivia, & Beau!! Haakon had a great time playing with everyone.
When we arrived at Grandpa & Grandma Seeger's house it was a hubub of Wedding excitement! How wonderful it was to see everyone there and share in the excitement. Haakon sure enjoyed all the hugs and kisses and attention he got. There were lots of people to see and talk to that he never was bored. He loved falling asleep in Grandpa Seeger's arms. The wedding was just soooo beautiful! Saul and Lisa make a wonderful couple and I know Haakon is happy to have a new uncle!
Back in Climax Haakon had many a ride. He got to ride on Jacob's Gator, sit on Grandpa's old tractor and sit behind the wheel of Great Uncle Randy's Cadilac. Oh was that fun. Grandma Vickie was well prepared for Haakon with tons of diapers, wipes, and baby food. Unfortunetly Haakon did not like the peaches too well but the real food Grandma made was so good. It was extra special that Grandpa finished refinishing Mommy's old High Chair for Haakon to use.
It was sad to say good bye to all our loved ones, but it really makes us appreciate and treasure each moment with them. We never know when we will see them next so we never want to take it for granted. Our family is so important and precious to us. Living farther away makes us appreciate everyone all the more! We love you! Come visit us now soon!Comments:Add a comment:
