My Day at The Minnesota State Fair...
Haakon visited the fair on Saturday and if he were to tell you about it, this is probably what he would say.
"The horses, the horses! You have to go see the horses! I thought dogs and puppies were neat but the horses are even bigger. Grandpa lifted me up so I could see them through the gate. I got so excited I tried to climb the bars to get inside. There was one horse out of his stall and I even got to touch him. There were even ponies, just my size to see too. One horse looked sad and Grandma said it was because someone gave him a bad main cut. But I would have to say seeing the horses was my favorite part.
Before we went to the fair Mommy was talking about getting me a stroller. I tried to tell her that I would not mind beig carried the whole day but I guess I am getting to heavy, or at least that is what they said. So now I have a new blue stroller. It is smaller then my Prego but it does have a nifty cup holder for my water bottle. It was easy just to reach over and grab it and take a drink when I got thirsty.
There sure were a lot of people at the fair and it seemed like everyone was pushing a stroller. I even saw some other kids in strollers just like mine.
It is fun now that I get to try big people food. Grandma got me my very own milk shake and Grandpa let me have a Sweet Martha Cookie. I even got to try cotton candy! I love fair food.
We got to see lots of tractors and other animals as well. Mommy and Grandma loved to look at the quilts. I decided to take a nap then. We also got to go to a kids barn and haul hay and feed the cow, sheep, and chicken and work in the garden and carry a basket and bring it to the Farmer's Market. I am still too little to do some of the things the bigger kids were doing but they still paid me a dollar and I got to buy a little box of cereal at the store. I shared it with Mommy and then Grandma bought me this silly John Deere visor with antlers. Mommy and Grandma loved it. But I did not want to wear it so much.
It was such a fun day, even with the 3 messy diapers that got my outfit dirty. I did not mind much. I did not smell worse then the cows or pigs. Grandma said she had enough Fair for 4 years but Grandpa said he would take me next year. I can't wait cause I will be able to run by then. "

Haakon gave me the best birthday present ever today. He looked at me and called me Ma ma as he crawled over to sit in my lap. Oh that was so precious to hear him say that.

Haakon sure has been a busy boy. He can say that he officially learned to crawl in Minnesota. He can zoom all over the place now. Can't take our eyes off of him for a minute.

Last Saturday was Auntie Lisa's wedding to Saul. Now Haakon has a new uncle. It was a beautiful wedding and Auntie Lisa was so gorgeous!!!! Haakon had a lot of fun playing with the Courtright cousins during the wedding dance. He even got to dance with the beautiful bridesmaid Kristin. He looked pretty sharp in his bowtie. I think he was totally exhausted at the end of the day but he had a great time being held and played with by everyone. He even fell asleep in a few arms as well.
We sure had a fun time even when he got sick again. Good thing Daddy is a doctor and can get some more meds perscribed.

I feel like Haakon has really grown and learned so much these past two weeks. Just looking at the way he interacts and moves around and Uff da! he is starting to look more like a little boy and less like a baby! They sure do not stay little for long.

Well, we will just have to write more later about the fun adventures and good times we have had on our trip later cause we are about to jump into the car with Grandpa and Grandma Stortroen and go to Fargo to visit Auntie Sarah and go out for lunch.

As of last night Haakon has a new "pet". His name is Ink Jet. For short we call him IJ. We did not get this "pet" at a pet store. This "pet" was discovered last night scuring across the office and running right into the printer. We have noticed that our ink is a little low. We did not realize IJ loves to eat ink. (at least we assume that is what he was doing in the printer) Oh, IJ is a lizzard. He is a baby lizzard, about 2 1/2 inches long. We have given Haakon strict rules not to eat IJ if he happens to see him running around the house. Guess I would rather have a lizzard then bugs.

Haakon sure was a little ham for our company today. Michael, LaVonne and Jenny Dale came to visit this afternoon. It was such a special treat to have them visit with us. Haakon really liked showing off and made friends very fast. I know he is excited like we are that Jenny will be able to come visit again real soon. We told Michael and LaVonne to bring Grandpa and Grandma with them the next time they come to visit! :)

A special Thank You to all of you who have recently signed Haakon's Guest Book. It is so fun to hear from everyone. Please keep intouch and come visit anytime!

Last night Haakon and I made little mini cheesecakes. He really got into the whole process and enjoyed watching. He almost got his hands in the mixture at one point but Mom and Dad have learned quicker reflexes since Haakon has started to be so active. What Haakon found the most entertaining was the Graham Cracker crumbs. Here I was holding him on my left hip and holding a ziplock bag in my left hand and spooning the leftover crust mixture from the bowl to the bag, one spoon full at a time. Haakon was just watching carefully as I put the spoon in the bowl and emptied it's contents into the bag. Then all of asudden he burst out giggling. He giggled for 5 minutes straight. After the bag was filled and sealed, I let him shake the crumbs and then he giggled some more. Still not sure why graham cracker crumb crust is so facinating but to a 7 1/2 month old it is the greatest.

Haakon got to swim with the dolphins on Saturday! We met friends on Saturday at the beach in Galveston for the afternoon. What a beautiful day the Lord blessed us with. Calm warm water, quiet beach, and beautiful dolphins splashing and jumoing in the water close by.
We all had a great time but got a little too much sun. We learned our lesson about the Texas sun. Putting sun block on once just does not cut it. And it is better to apply it before you go and put lots on.
That evening we did a little shopping for Haakon. We were looking for something for him to wear to Auntie Lisa's wedding. We found a little suit but it is a bit snug. So cute though. It was "tax free" weekend in Texas so there was no sales tax on clothing and shoes under $100. Lots of people out shopping.
Haakon has been sleeping in his crib the last few nights. We are so proud of him. I think all three of us are sleeping better now.

We are so excited to have Jenny Dale in our neighborhood. She is a friend of ours from Climax. It makes it all the better to have someone from home here in Texas! Yeah it is just like family! We hope to get together lots when she is not busy with school.

We are also very excited to have company coming to visit us in September!!! Dana and Georgie Widman are coming to visit!!! Yeah we can not wait. Dana has a conference and it turns out it is just 6 miles from our house. How ideal! Then my parents are coming. YEAH!! We can not wait to see them and I know they have been so excited to see were we live. We are planning our outings and figuring out all the lovely places to take our company.

We love company so everyone plan a trip to come visit soon!

Thank you for all your prayers for Haakon. He is on the mend. He went to the Doctor last Thursday and was given and antibiotic. He is not to fond of taking it but it seems to be doing the trick and his little sore bottom is not quite as red anymore.

Crawling... he is getting sooo close. He can scoot backwards but every now and then he comes forward. I told Haakon he just has to figure it out before we come to Minnesota otherwise Uncle Ryan will be so dissapointed.

Bottles... He finally figured out how to use a bottle. He loves it now. He has some water and pedialite in the bottle and drinks it right up. It was a challenge at first to try and get some extra fluids in him when he was sick, but now he is a pro and I think he is feeling much better because of it.
He is over 20 pounds now and wants to explore everything. It is great how he likes to play with toys more and figure out how things work. It is so exciting to see his expression when he knows he has accomplished something or discovered something new. He gets so excited and proud of himself.
Haakon loves discovering new sounds he can make. He loves to hear himself scream. Uff da he is loud. He is also sniffing alot. Which is cute and funny.
He is such a joy and a blessing...each day is like a birthday party.
