We had a very nice Thanksgiving. We missed all our family but it helped to be surrounded by the smells and tastes of Thanksgiving's past.
It was wonderful to have Jenny Dale come. It is so good to have company.
We heard we are missing the first big storm of the winter back home. While the wind is blowing and biting and whipping all the newly fallen snow around as it dances on the icy roads... here in Texas it is sunny, and warm. This weekend it was in the 80s and now it has cooled down to pleasant 60's. Is it really December? The only hints of Christmas coming are all the holiday lights and decor everywhere. It does not quite look the same when there is no snow blanketing the lights.
This weekend we will have to start taking out the Christmas decorations for Haakon to see. Last year he did not pay much attention to the ornaments but loved the lights on the tree. Now Haakon will more then likely get so excited over the ornaments and want to hold and carry around each one. He is very good at testing the durability of things as well. He loves to throw things on the floor to see how they hold up. He has also figured out that if he throws them off something high they are more likely to break or make a louder sound when they hit the floor. We need to look for a Christmas tree where the branches start at about 3 feet from the floor. Then he can't reach the ornaments!
Haakon still is holding on to his virus. But he has decided to share it with his daddy much to Grant's dismay.
Haakon slept so well last night. He slept about 4 hours then woke to eat and get cuddled and then settled back in and slept till I woke him this morning. What a good little boy.
Haakon's newest trick is climbing. He is lifting his little leg and pulling himself up on things. He has had a good little teacher. His friend Ryan is very talented at climbing and Haakon loves to try what Ryan does. Haakon has also figured out how to turn himself around and climb down off the couch or chair.
Where has our little baby gone? He is growing oh so fast.Comments:Add a comment:

Haakon sure had a fun Saturday afternoon playing with the neighbor boys and watching them help us with the yard work. We have the most ambitious little neighborhood boys who love to ride their bikes over to play with Haakon and see if there are any projects they can do. Grant is great at delegating tasks. I make the cookies and refreshments for them.

Our Lefse turned out great! Grant and Haakon were the critics and it was met with rave reviews! We are now set for Thanksgiving!
We got a little over 60 pieces made. Grant was very gracious to sacrifice a sock to use for the rolling pin. He must agree that it was well worth it in the end. Right Hunny?
Haakon is 11 months old today. Just saying that produces a little lump in my throat and butterflies in my tummy just thinking of our little boy so close to 1. When people tell you, "enjoy it, they grow up so fast" they are not joking around. We blinked and now he is this big. It is so hard to believe.
Well, we are doing our best to enjoy every minute.Comments:Add a comment:

Haakon and I both survived our first week of work. Unfortunetly Haakon has come down with a cold and I am sure to get it too. Hopefully by the time we go back to work on Tuesday he will be better. We are just working 3 days a week at UTMB. Primarly Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. Haakon stays with Monica Lopez during the day in Galveston. She takes care of 3 other little children who seem to be so sweet. Haakon is a good sport about staying there, but he is extreemly happy when he gets to be at home and play.
Yesterday we got to play with his friend Ryan and Ryan's Grandma Barbara. They are both so sweet and we have a great time visiting with them. Ryan is 16 months old. He is so nice to share his toys with Haakon.
Haakon's newest tricks are:
waving
nodding his head
shaking his head
This weekend we are planning to make lefse. We can't wait. Hopefully it turns out good like Grandma Vickie and Great-Grandpa Ranum's lefse.Comments:Add a comment:

Well the biggest news is not our news but Cousin Beau's news. He is going to be a BIG BROTHER! Haakon is so excited for Beau! We can not wait to hug and kiss Beau's new little brother or sister.

Last weekend Grandma Barb came to visit. She drove done the fixed intrigue for us so now Haakon and I have a getaway car to drive around in. Thank you Grandpa Steve for getting it fixed for us. Grandma Barb brought lots of presents for us from both sets of Haakon's wonderful grandparents.
It was so much fun having Grandma Barb here. Her visit was much too short and Haakon sure hopes she comes back soon and brings Grandpa Dick with next time.
While Grandma was here we went to Kemah and walked and dined on the Boardwalk. There were lots of cute little children running around in costume. 5 minutes before we left we dyed Haakon's mohalk blue and drew eyebrows on with a Mary Kay Sable eyeliner which came off beautifully afterwards with the Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover. Unfortunetly the blue mohalk took a few days to turn from blue to strawberry blonde. But he was cute! Podge and Haakon got lots of looks and comments. Haakon cried all the way back from dropping Grandma off at the airport. He sure had fun playing with his Grandma.

Lucky Boy! Haakon did not have to get any shots.
He is just a little above average in weight and size for his age. The doctor was impressed with his strength and skills.
