Lots of news to update, but where to begin...
Dr appointment yesterday went well. Baby is big and ready. Dr. Wilson has put me on the induction list so hopefully L&D will let me come in this weekend. The word is that they are very busy right now, but my Dr is on call this weekend so she said it would work well for her too.

Of course the kids are somewhat sick right now so hopefully we can get them all well before they meet their little brother.

Thank you for the sweet birthday wishes. It made the worst birthday ever better.
I always new I would never like turning 30, but what I never realized was how awful it would be!!!
My plan was to have brunch with my sweet friends Sarah and Jackie and then got to my dr appointment, come home, do some nesting, and look forward to supper with Grant and the kids. He was going to take them to Monica's so I could go to the DR alone. What a lovely plan it was, but plans change. Kids came down with a fever and bad bug on Sunday. I stayed home with them and cancelled the brunch and appointment. I did my best to cuddle and comfort my miserable little ones. I tried to explain to them it was my birthday, (they are huge birthday fans) but they said they were not interested in having a birthday for me. They said they were too sick. We did venture to Chili's for supper when daddy got home. Haakon did great but Marit was in no mood. Then we thought we could all use some ice cream. So we went to Cold Stone. (we should have just went there first) No one can be sad when eating ice cream. We came home and tucked the kids in. It was about nine and we thought we could do a little more work in the bathroom. All the wallpaper has been completely stripped except for behind our big 6x4 mirror. We decided to move it. Not a good idea. I did not realize how heavy it was, it barely dinged on the counter and a hug chunk broke off and cut my right thumb quite bad. I have never seen Grant look so horrified and worried. He said he had foreseen what horrible things could happen if it were to break. After a 2 calls, one to our sweet neighbor Lorri (to watch the little ones) and the other to our good friend Bobby (the plastic surgeon) we were off to the UTMB ER. Bobby ended up going with us and fixing up my thumb. What a blessing he was. I knew I was in the best hands possible. It was amazing how with the right connections we whizzed into the ER and out without having to sit for a moment in the waiting room. I must admit I felt a little guilty while all those other people had to sit and wait.
My thumb is pretty ugly right now. If you want the details Grant can fill you in. Let's just say I am so thankful that I still have it and feeling in it and also that I was not severely cut anywhere else. It could have been much worse. The Lord was gracious and watched out for me.

When we got home Grant disposed of the mirror cleaned up all the glass and blood.
Lesson learned: 1-do not try to do anything that takes coordination when pregnant.
    2-never play with mirrors.

I have a new appreciation for thumbs. I have managed to still do quite a bit but washing my hair real well is difficult and it is nearly impossible to put in a pony or fix, one handed. Poor Marit too has been running around with straggly hair. Daddy is trying to acquire new skills in hair. So far, he has a C-. But we will keep letting him try!

Hopefully the next time we journal it will be about the arrival our new little boy! We are so excited!!!

It has been a week now since we returned home from our long car trip up to Minnesota to see our family and celebrate Auntie Laynie and Eric's wedding.
We actually survived the trip, and praise the Lord, the baby was not born on the side of the road between Minnesota and Texas. I had my doubts if we would make it though. Before we had even reached Dallas on our way up, Marit had bodily fluid explosions out of both ends on 2 different occassions. I was ready to turn around and head home. Thankfully that was the last of the flu for her and she was on the mend from there. We had planned on spending the night to break up our drive but unfortunetly there was some midget stock car race going on and a stretch of over 150 miles where every hotel and RV park was completely booked. Even walking in huge and pregnant did not get us a room! We stopped at least every 2 hours there and back which helped all of us. It was just so wonderful to finally reach our destination. The photos we uploaded tell most of the story of our time in MN. We enjoyed every minute of it. The weather was incredible! Seeing everyone was amazing and by far the best part of the trip. We had kinda hoped to scope out some places to live when we move back up north next year but ran out of time. My two main requirements are, a good size yard for the kids to run and play in and neighbors far enough away so they don't hear me yell (perhaps that word is too harsh.. speak in attention grabbing, motherly asterting voice) when a "disater" befalls us! That is not too much to ask is it?

Tomorrow marks one week till DD Day (due date). I have a doctor's appointment and I am just hoping and praying she has more exciting news for me then last week when she said, "even with all those contractions you have been having you are only 50% effaced and not at all dialated." How depressing!!! My cervix has never been too smart! Who knows if I will actually go into labor on my own or if I will end up being induced again. I just don't want him to get so over cooked like Haakon did. I know he is ready and I have never felt so pregnant before. I am really starting to waddle and feel so sore. I never felt like that with the other two.

This weekend we scrubbed down Marit's car seat (especially after our trip - YUCKY!) and the baby's car seat. We stripped them bare and washed everything. Grant even soaked the straps in a bowl of mild detergent. OH you don't even want to know the color of the water the next morning. I feel like I do a fairly good job of keeping their seats clean but oh, they are so hideous! I made a new carseat cover for the baby's seat. Did not want to tote him around in a pink car seat. Also washed up lots of baby clothes and burp clothes and all that good stuff. I still have a couple of mountains of laundry to put away but hopefully it will be done before the little guy arrives. My nesting phase has finally kicked in but not nearly as ambitious and quick like before. Oh well.

Haakon and Marit are both under the weather again with another bug causing a spike in temp and a bit of a cough. They have to get over that too before the baby is born.

Nana bought tickets to come see us the 15th through the 27th. Grant is off to a conference during most of that time. It will be so wonderful to have her there while he is gone. Some how we got through a month with no daddy in June, but I am not even willing to chance it for a week with three and no daddy. So thank you Nana!!! We are still accepting house guest applications for other times in September, October, November & December. Anyone is more then welcome to stay and cuddle baby and put laundry away, entertain Haakon and Marit and visit the sites in Houston/Galveston. :) Come January there might be other specifications so we will reasess then.

Needless to say we are excited and anxious for the arrival of this sweet little boy the Lord has blessed us with.

    Comments:
Grandma Barb:  Happy Birthday to the prettiest pregnant mom I know. You are just so lovely and dear even when you are exhausted from carrying around baby near your due date. We hope all goes well and you deliver easily right on time. We are so hoping for new grandson photos soon. Having more grandchildren to love is the best gift we could ever receive. Hope you are all ready to relax and let the contractions do their work. You and Thor each deserve your own birthday anyway. Love and Hugs from Red Lake Falls.
Auntie Cal:  Happy Birthday sweetheart, you will be in our prayers as the DD draws near. I would love to come and help with your mom but will have to wait until you move up north to see what I can help with. Enjoy your day, hope the Dr. has good news regarding the birthdate of your little guy. Love you much.
Emma:  BECKY!!! i am so excited for the new little bundle of joy to join our family!!! i will be keeping you and the fam in my prayers!!! love ya tons! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

My house has been invaded by the most disgusting viral bug!!!!!!!!!!!! Haakon first came down with visible symptoms on Saturday. And now just this morning Marit has been succumbed to the bad virus. There is a horrible odor in my house of yucky bodily fluids that just won't leave no matter what I do to scrub, spray, etc.

Monday I had my doctor's appointment. She was hesitant to say go ahead and travel the 24 hour drive up to Minnesota. She usually does not recommend travel after 36 weeks. By the time we return home from MN I should be close to 38 weeks.
She did a culture test to see if I could possibly go into premature labor in the next 2 weeks and that came back negative. She also did an ultrasound just to make sure his fluid levels were good. They looked great and said he responds well to all the random contractions I have too. It was fun to see how big he is getting. He was practicing breathing as well. What a little sweetie. She said he looks like a happy and healthy baby.
Our plan is to leave Friday evening after work. I am doubting that our departure time will be that early. I guess as long as we make it up to MN by the 9th for Laynie and Eric's wedding we will be doing good. Haakon has had this bug now for 5 days. If it takes Marit that long to be rid of it... oh, well let's just hope we can get on the road at some point.
They are both napping at the moment, the one and only joy of sick children is their willingness to nap. I think that sounds good and perhaps I can squeeze one in too.
Perhaps this could all be a dream and when I wake up Haakon and Marit will be happy and healthy - no more throwing up and now more diarrhea.

    Comments:
Cal:  I'll be praying extra time for you dear Rebekah, I know how much your mother worries about you and how she'd be so disappointed if you didn't come to MN because of sickness. She says she wants to tuck you in a big chair and wait on you hand and foot. She'll do it too! Love, and hope to see you soon, but more than that, I sincerely hope everyone that's sick gets totally better and that Grant and you don't get sick! Love Auntie Cal
Mary:  I am so sorry. We will pray for a quick recovery for Marit and continued healing for Haakon. Hopefully you and Grant don't get it either! I hope you get off on your trip up here on schedule and that you have a safe trip. I love hearing about your sweet little boy babe in your belly. I can't wait to see his sweet face...you're so close now...the home stretch...great job Mommy of 3! You're amazing.

Why do I even kid myself? What is the point of actually thinking I can take Haakon and Marit to the Mall. We had a mission and thought that since our friends did not make it over for the visit Friday morning we would venture to the mall real quick like. Upon checking out at W&S Haakon had spotted and picked up a package of sponges in white netting that was next to the counter in a basket. After a couple requests to return the sponges to the basket he did so and we left. I wish I had parked at Dillards instead of Macy's the walk would have been much shorter back to our car. Once we were just about to our vehicle I happen to notice familiar white netting. "no it could not be" were my thoughts when I bent down to see that sure enough, Marit was holding a package of sponges. How did she get them? We turned our stroller back around and into the store we went back to W&S to return the $14 sponges I so desperately do not wish to see ever again! The girl usually has a half a dozen accessories with her so I did not notice she had added another one to her collection. We embarrassedly returned the sponges and exited to store as fast as we could go. Along the way receiving the speech of no stealing and you can't just take things in stores just to hold them. I know Marit had no clue what or that she had even done something wrong so I simplified it with do not touch ANYTHING ANYMORE!!!!
I don't think we will be returning to the mall anytime soon. Besides the worst part about the mall is the little kiosks with desperate sales people trying to bother preggo mom's with two in tow to try their creams, hair straighteners and mineral makeup. Target is challenging enough for me.

    Comments:
Cara:  At least you didn't end up stealing the sponges yourself. One day, I was in Target. Pregnant, not feeling well, and on my cell phone. While on the phone I picked up a tiny package of window curtain rod brackets and tucked them safely...IN MY PURSE! When I got home, I could not find them in my bag anywhere! Until later that week at church no less, I find them! I was so horrified and embarrassed that next time I was at Target I sneaked them onto the conveyor belt and paid for them. :)
Mary:  Poor girl - I can only imagine how you felt trying to trudge through the mall with two munchkins and being that pregnant. You're a trooper. We recently had to do the same thing as Brooke exited World Market with something we didn't pay for. I guess we can hope it's a lesson learned and it won't happen again....at least we can hope, huh? I know exactly what you mean about the kiosk people. I look at them like they're NUTS when they approach me with the girls!

On Saturday the 12th it marked our 5th wedding anniversary. It is amazing how 5 years can seem like forever in one moment and then just like yesterday in the next. These past 5 years have brought about so much growth and change. 3 states, 3 homes, a son, a daughter, and a baby boy on the way. And those are just the highlights. God has been so good. We are so thankful.

Haakon is developing a new interest in writing letters. He still feels wrtiting H O is enough when it comes to spelling his name.

Marit is enjoying learning the lyrics to new songs, pointing out her body parts, and identifying colors.

Baby is growing bigger and bigger, and sucking all the energy out of me.
I am starting to feel like a bad Mommy. I feel guilty that I just can't always work up enough energy to be more playful and imaginative or take them for a long walk in the stroller. My favorite activities as of late are watching a movie and reading books with them. I even remember feeling like my mom was not much fun when she was in her last couple months being pregnant with Sarah. She was always asking Bridget and I to help pick something off the floor. And I am sure my Mom was way more fun then what I have become. We still do a lot of cuddling and tickling and the Baby trys his best to kick them out of the way. Poor little guy always getting squished and pushed on.

Daddy is now a chief resident and has his own office. This is great for us. They even found 2 chairs to put in his office for the kids. We will have to bring in a toy box and hang some great art work. Perhaps photos of the kids and or some of their paintings. Now we won't bother the other residents so much when we stop by to wait on Daddy.

    Comments:
Nikki Massmann:  That's funny you mention not being as fun in the last trimester of your pregnancy! When I was pregnant with Luke I would ask Anna to help me with things on the floor, even setting my shoes up for me so I could just step into them! She would say, "Mommy, I'm never having a baby because I want to be able to do stuff!" Oh well, they get over it and you can be back to your playful self in no time!

Haakon requested a new look to the site. He suggested Transformers.
Today is a very exciting day! The last day of Grant's boards test!!! It will also be our Anniversary on Saturday. 5 years! Here we have been married for 5 years and their are practically 5 of us now! I told Grant not to expect 6 by the next anniversary!
He laughed and asked, "why not?" Guess we will have to adopt a puppy or something.

Marit is just the sweetest when it comes to Thank Yous. This morning before heading out the door I gave her a piece of a cinnamon roll. She looks at it and then at me and with a big smile on her face she says, "Thank you mommy!" in a very sing song exagerated way. Then proceeds to yum yum comment on how good it tastes. I just adore her expresiveness and wanting to show how much she appreciates something. Grant says Marit and I need to be careful and not sound too "fakey" with our expresiveness but we mean every pitch and expression! Once to Monica's this morning she runs in and turns around, gives me her parade wave and says bye bye mommy. Then runs back for one last hug. Monica and I both agreed she was quite excited to be there this morning.

Haakon, has the last couple nights protested bedtime and wished to stay up later. We warned him that he will not like it once morning comes. Sure enough he has lived and learned that going to bed early is just the thing to do. He is much happier in the morning if he gets his 10 + hours of sleep at night.

Lately I have noticed contractions with this little guy. He is still very active and wiggling around all the time it seems. Monday I had a DR appointment. We were there for 2 hours and never saw the DR. Thankfully I did not have the other 2 in tow. That would have been the worst 2 hours ever. Baby and I read about 6 magazines before the nurse came in, apologized and said she would just measure my belly and I could be on my way. Perhaps at the next appointment in 3 weeks I can visit with the DR and she can give me the OK for traveling up to MN. It is cutting it close, but if he is anything like his siblings, I won't be going early. I told Grant though that I did not want to deliver in the sub on the side of the road somewhere between TX and MN. Good news for September though! Grant is not going to Harvard! YEAH! Perhaps this spring but he said he could take us all. not sure yet if I am desiring to spend a month in Boston with 3 little ones but I won't worry about it till the time comes.
In NUK news!!! Marit, a huge fan of the NUK or anything close to it has been without it for nearly a week. Daddy said it is messing up her mouth and it must go. Oh the tears, the heart break, the expression on her face, just the sheer devistation of it all was almost to much to bare to see. She was truly heartbroken when he told her. She took comfort in her blankies, and dolly of choice and has been a good sport about it. Her teeth are looking better already. Way to go Marit!!!

    Comments:
Bridget:  I am so proud of you Marit for getting rid of your NUK! I am sure that was a very hard but braze thing to do. It's better to forget about it now then to bring it with you to kindergarten! Happy Anniversary Rebekah and Grant! You two are even more fabulous than you were 5 years ago and I must say I am quite impressed that you have 3 babies in 5 years...you are much more productive than Ryan and I. Love you Lots.

Daddy came home late Friday night. The kids were all tucked in tight and he decided not to wake them. Better to be greeted by happy children then crabby ones.
When morning came and Haakon came bounding into our room he asked if Daddy was home yet. Daddy's head popped up from the other side to say good morning to Haakon. I don't think Haakon's smile could have gotten any bigger. He crawled over me and baby as fast as he could to get to daddy and cuddle. After wrestling and cuddling awhile we could hear "Princess" Marit calling from her bed chambers that she was awake and ready to get out of the crib. Daddy and Haakon ran in there to say good morning. According to Daddy she was so surprised to see him. She just stared and then told him she heard a puppy dog barking outside. After it all sunk in that Daddy really was finally home, she could not stop hugging him and touching his face as almost to make sure he really was real! By 8:15 that morning we had all had breakfast of ebelskiver pancakes and were ready to take on that much anticipated Saturday. First things first, get the fridge and kitchen table back in the kitchen. I never did get the grout sealed while he was gone. But Grant was on it and now the house seems much more back to normal. Although, I still can't help but walk to the part of the living room to put or take something from the fridge, only to realize it is back in its place.
Just like Daddy is now home and everything seems back in its place. (Oh except for the toys, unless scattered all over the floor is their place)

    Comments:
Grandma Barb:  We had a wonderful 4th at Lake Ida with Mike and Kathy Moe. Our group included Grandma Betty, Lenore, and Grandpa Dick. They enjoyed the lake and all the good food. Part of the day we worked on wedding flowers. It just went too fast with all the Moe sisters chatting, the jet ski rides, pontooning, and just vegging on the beach with lovely Minnesota weather. Hope you had a nice day to celebrate our freedom. Love to all, BARB
Lauralee Tupa:  YAY!! Your family is back together :) I hope you get some BIG naps in!! Have a GREAT 4th love you guys!
Nikki (Krueger) Massmann:  Oh I love this how you refer to Marit calling from her bed chambers! Hysterical, but yes so true with those little girly girls, isn't it!?
Mary:  I am so happy for you all that Daddy is back home in his rightful place (much like your fridge) :) How wonderful!

Haakon does not drive (although he did start the sub the other day) Reminder to self - do not leave keys in Haakon's reach.
Nor will Haakon be driving for a good 11 to 12 years. BUT this little guy is already experiencing a bit of road rage. It irritates him when we are headed either north or south on 45 which is 3 to 4 lanes in each direction and he happens to drop whatever it is he is holding to an unreachable position. He begs and pleads with me to stop and get it. I have never given in to this request, and thus keep driving and tell him I am not going to risk getting into an accident because you dropped your toy or water bottle. He lately has decided that he will solve our traffic dilemma by stating that he is going to break the other cars, trucks, semis, etc that are on the road and throw them in the ditch. That is where I plug in the “eat your veggie's and fruit otherwise you will never be strong enough to break cars and truck in two” line. Then I have to explain that we can not wish to hurt and break other people's property. That just is not right and God would not be pleased.
Yesterday morning on our way to work, we had reached the island and a little Scion had cut right in front of us causing me to slam on the breaks. Here, I try to drive safe and defensively with a vehicle full of little ones only to have a little reckless driver try to zoom in front. A few blocks later he slammed on his breaks and took his time turning into the donut shop to apparently stuff his face with those delightful round pastries. I would be lying if I said I did not feel like Haakon and breaking his car in two and throwing it in the ditch. I did not tell Haakon though.

Marit is accessorizing big time these days. She has to take with her a multitude of items. Purse, 2 blankets, NUK, water bottle, baby doll, baby bear, perhaps a bracelet or two and snacks are always good as well. Two pair of shoes is required at all times. This morning I said, “alright everyone, in the car! We are leaving in 2 minutes.” I could hear her whining at the top of the stairs. She was struggling and about to trip over the two “bly” (blankets) she was carrying along with Pablo. No matter how much I tell her she could leave some of it at home she just shakes her head and says, “no, mommy.”
We get into the car and pile on all of her items. One can barely see her face poking out from beneath her pile of items. As we enter unto the highway I hear Marit in the back calling, “NUK, NUK!” Haakon piped in before I had a chance to respond. “Marit, you forgot your NUK and we are not going to get it so just deal with it!” I could hear a whimper and a soft spoken NUK. I told her not to worry because it was probably still up in the bathroom where she set it down when she brushed her teeth and we will get it when we get home. At least we got Pablo, two blankets, her purse, 2 pair of shoes, and an extra pony with us.

3 more bedtimes till Daddy is home. Ja, the projects can wait, the dishes can sit, and the laundry can pile up. As long as Daddy comes home and we are alive and well.

less then a week to go till Daddy is home. I don't think we can say it enough that we miss him. I seem to be running low on energy these days. Every now and then I induldge in caffine to keep me going for a little bit. Hopefully that does not bother this sweet baby any. I know it perks him up too. He just kicks and punches away. I think he is in training already.

Tomorrow is Grandpa Seeger's birthday (the 23rd) We sure hope his day is fabulous!

Tomorrow I have to venture to the court house and report for jury duty. Apparently I should be exempt since I have 2 little ones, pregnant, and single parenting it this month too. I sure hope so, I just don't have the energy. Otherwise I may think it would be a fun experience.

Haakon and Marit enjoyed the beach on Saturday for their friend Ryan's 4th Birthday Party. Today after church Jenny Dale came to visit which was a special treat.

We are going to try to finish some of our projects before Daddy gets home. IF we can muster up the energy. And that would be a miracle.

Our sweet little cousin Aquiliana has been very sick now for over a week. She has been to the doctor this week probably more times then Haakon and Marit have been combined in their 3 1/2 and 1 1/2 years respectively. Please keep her in your prayers that she will be well very soon. This has not been easy on her sweet mommy and daddy. As all parents know, it is soooo painful to see your child sick or hurt.

10 more days till Daddy is home. Haakon's corn has grown very tall. Perhaps tomorrow we will take a picture.
hopefully daddy will be home before it grows ears!
